[There are notes all around the Mansion today. Not very complicated notes. In fact, they're very simple.
'Kaito,
I have a surprise for you, so come to the lobby as soon as possible.
Love,
mom'
Of course, should any Kaito listen to this letter and enter the lobby, they'll find a surprise.
Namely in the form of a pitfall right in front of all the doors. One with aligators, one with dogs, one with snakes, and for the truly unlucky Kaito, one with fish.
And should they pass the pitfall, they'd have to deal with a poles shooting out of the ground.
And should they pass that, there will be a swinging blade pendulum of death.
And then there will be cake.
Chocolate cake.
Which is actually perfectly safe. That's his treat for making it through alive.
Of course others are allowed to be caught by the traps by mistake, of course. Aya will come help you since you're not Kaito. Aoko's won't be helped though, since she trained her too.]

Keywords....almost appropriate
[And she's going to take a look down the snake pit from her elevated perch on the balcony around the lobby. It's not like they're POISONOUS after all. Just him getting bit proves whether or not he'd be good against them or not.]

[Your attention may be drawn by a small noise of pleasure and a phantom thief already munching his happy way into the first slice of chocolate cake. He looks like an odd mix of Kaito and of a younger Toichi, recognisable as both-but-neither.]
[Distraction is one of the basics of being a Kaitou, after all.]
no subject
[Oh, and there's that noise. She looked over and stared. Then laughed.] It's been a while since I've been tricked like that. Not since Toichi and my days in the tomb. [Walks back over so she was closer, taking a good look at this Kaito.
Now...that was interesting.] Hm, you don't look like Kaito. Not exactly...
no subject
Milady, distraction is one of my many and varied talents.
[He bows, producing a rose... which appears to be made of chocolate. He blinks at it for a moment, laughs, and produces another, this one real and a deep yellow, presenting the two to Aya.]
Kaitou Kid, milady.
no subject
Is it? Then you are quite like those two men you look like.
[She smiled, accepting the roses.]
A pleasure to meet you, Kaitou Kid-san. I am Kuroba Aya. [Of course, Kaitou Kid did not exist in her world, with how things had gone.]
no subject
[It's as much his name now as Kaito's is his. And being called anything but his first name by his mother/wife/precious-person is too formal for him.]
Though this is our first meeting, it is neverthless a pleasure to meet you again.
[His tone is pleased, eyes twinkling slightly. Mischievous purple eyes drift sideways to the cake on it's table, and the side of his mouth quirks up in a smile.]
And your cake.
no subject
[She gestured to the cake.] Please have another piece. And can you tell me how we met, Kid? Are you a relative of Toichi's? [He did, after all, look like a cross between her son and husband.]
Or...is it something a bit more complicated, with such an interesting name?
no subject
'Complicated' sums it up quite nicely.
[And an attempt at humour as he moves to cut another slice of the (delicious) cake, teasing grin still tinged with that same gentle sadness.]
You could say I'm a relative of Toichi's. Of a sort.
no subject
Of a sort...
[She moved closer, studying him thoughtfully.] You look very much like him. But like Kaito too. I feel like I should have the pieces, but I don't know which ones they are or how they fit together, I'm afraid.
no subject
I'm not your husband, nor your son. But I used to be.
[It's somewhat astounding to him how so much of his life can be condensed to two simple sentences.
He smiles, as he always does, reassurance and acceptance showing through.]
no subject
And the way he was looking at her, his actions...she couldn't find it in herself to think of it as anything, but truth.]
...what happened to you?
no subject
[His tone is a little dry, vaguely amused, but truthful.]
Kaito and I... we were never quite one person to start with, even though we were sharing the same body. And when you add magic into the equation...
[He shrugs gracefully.]
We split apart. He the magician, and I, the Kaitou, with all that entailed.
[Such as his predecessor's memories, his face, the influx of magic that allows him to go from here to there without setting off traps...]
no subject
You split apart, after sharing...
[Give her a moment. She's sorting out how this all went in her head from what she knows.]
Instead...of being a tomb raider...Toichi was you? A Phantom Thief. And if there are magic relics, of course there are gonna be some magic things in museums...
I suppose...I suppose his fate was about the same... [And there's a sad, sad look on her face.] And that Kaito also took up the mantle from him.
And you went from Toichi to Kaito and then you split apart. Is that about right?
no subject
[He smiles again then, impulsively, leans in and presses a kiss to her cheek.]
[His cheeks are very slightly pink, and he looks mildly embarassed.]
[Cough.]
It was complicated to begin with, but now we know who we are.
[Why yes, event he vaunted Phantom Thief can resort to subject changes.]
no subject
It certainly sounds complicated. But it's good to know who you are. I'm glad you could figure that out.
no subject
[His smile is fond, for her, and for the memories he's sharing. His gaze drops to the rose in her fingers, looking up again with a slight grin.]
Your chocolate's melting, milady.
no subject
[Looks at the chocolate.] Oh. So it is. [Takes a bite.] Delicious.
no subject
It's a long one, but perfectly interesting in it's own right.
no subject
no subject
Should we relocate, then? I would hate to spoil the surprise.... and besides, I'm quite sure if we stay here, there will be no cake left as a reward!
[He smiles cheerfully, having cast a regretful look in the cake's direction.]
no subject
[And she's walking over to the rope she came down from the second floor on to climb right back up.
no subject
[A swirl of his cape, and he's gone, but back again, up on the balcony ready to offer a gentlemanly helping hand to Aya.]
Although now there runs the danger of me calling a heist for one of your spare cakes~
no subject
Hm, don't you usually have to send those sort of notes in advance?
no subject
Though, to be fair, a heist for a cake must be hastily planned by necessity, owing to the very nature of what is being thieved.
[He continues in a more conspiritorial tone, his voice hushing a little.]
Cakes, after all and alas, do have the unfortunate tendency of having a eat-by-date.
no subject
But I wouldn't need too much time to make sure it's not too easy a steal for you. [Winks.] After all, it's no fun when it's easy to get the target.
((OOC: And for future notice, she will be referred to as Chikage as we have an official name now! After I typo is Aya five billion times.]
