[There's an Aoko running around the mansion and searching frantically, as if her life depends on it (and for all she knows, it does). She's noticeably different from your usual Aoko, even at a glance; she's wearing a faded, green prison jumpsuit, and there's a thick, metal collar around her neck with a barcode stamped on it. If you look at her closer, she's tired, a little pale, and she looks sort of roughed up, as if she's fallen over a lot and been hit a few times.
She also looks panicked, worried, and almost a little frightened.]
Kaito?! Oi, Kaito--! Is this another Dog Race? More experiments?! Azami-chan!! Shiro-chan, Yoh-kun! Where are you guys--? [For a moment, she stops and glances down at her hand, considering something that seems to scare her a little; she shakes her head and continues running, determined.] This isn't funny!! Stupid Kaito--
I'm gonna find you, Kaito, okay? Do you hear me?! Don't die yet, or I'll never forgive you!
[And with that, she starts sprinting again.]

Considering how close Kaito was standing to said corner, if Aoko isn't careful, she might have a painful head-on collision on her hands]

but of course, the second they tumble to the ground, she shoves him off, scrambling back (and maybe kicking him accidentally in the process), unafraid. The consequences of yelling at a guard haven't occurred to her yet.]
You really should watch where you're going!! Who do you think you are?!
no subject
The hell are you--
[-- wait. He knows both that voice and that face, even if the one he knows from home is a few years older. His anger ebbs away to surprise as he takes her in-- all of her, collar and prison uniform included. He's seen plenty of different Aokos here, but none of them have looked like this.]
... Aoko? [there's no masking the surprise in his expression, and although this Kaito is somewhere in his mid-twenties, Aoko might be able to pick out quite a few features that are very similar to the teenager she knows so well]
no subject
[She trails off, eyes widening slowly. Her gaze flicks over his face, his eyes, the same messy hair, and her hands lower from where they were raised, fully prepared to fight back. The relief is starting to trickle in, but it's halted by confusion - because there's a lot of things wrong here. There are a few differences, but this guy looks just like...]
... Kaito?
no subject
You are... [he trails off, trying not to focus on how pale she looks. It's the first time in a long time he's felt this concerned for her, his Aoko or not, and he's struggling to hide that fact thoroughly]
Are you new here? [The standard question. The first thing she'll need to be told is how this place works]
no subject
[She wants to reach out, she wants to ask him so many things, she wants to know where his collar is and why he looks so different, and she almost does - but her hand freezes mid-reach and she recoils, just a bit. Kaito and the others have told her constantly that she can't be so naive, and if something seems off, then something probably is.
She can handle herself, usually, but this is way out of her league, and she sort of wishes someone else were here.]
... Are you really Kaito? [They can't fake that-- right?]
no subject
Am I-- yeah. [a pause; he thinks he knows why she asked] Kaito Kuroba, just... a few years older than you're used to, I think.
[he lifts a hand and scratches the back of his head awkwardly. It's been a while since he's felt like this]
Look, this is gonna sound really weird, but even if I am Kaito, I'm not the same one you know.
no subject
[Her worried look gives way to a suspicious glare; if it's Kaito, then she'd like to think this is some kind of larger-scale prank he arranged with his fellow Deadmen. If it's not, she's cautious, because it could be someone in disguise, or this whole thing could be some sort of illusion. She's heard of the higher-ranking Forgeries, after all, and apparently some of them have unusual powers...
What should she do right now?]
... Can you prove that you're Kaito?
no subject
[he shakes his head as he still tries to work out exactly what her appearance means. For some reason, he feels like he's heard about this jumpsuit and collar combination before... hadn't his Aoko mentioned meeting someone like that before?]
If you need proof, then feel free to ask me something. I'll answer honestly, promise.
no subject
But if you're a different Kaito, you won't have the same answers as Kaito should! Mouuu... [What's something big about Kaito? And if he's not Kaito, how can she make sure this guy doesn't find out the real answer if it's so important...?]
—Okay! I've got it! Who's the real Kaitou Kid?

If you want, here's a police officer to give Aoko a heart attack!
He put a hand to his forehead. "Jeez, I haven't been here that long, and it's already normal to think of this place as alive."
no subject
She was glancing around at rooms while she wandered, absent-minded, when she accidentally collided with Takagi's back, and she squeaked.
"Oh! I'm sorry, mister!" She gave a quick, apologetic bow of her head and glanced him over. She didn't recognise the man, and he didn't look like he came from DW; no collar, no strange weapon, no guard uniform. If he was from the same place as her, he wasn't anyone important.
... Still, she suddenly felt a little more aware of the fact that she was walking around in a prison jumpsuit, collar and all.
LOL! Aoko doesn't need any Kaitos' help! XD
He paused, not surprised that he didn't recognize her. They'd probably never met even from where he'd come from. But why was she wearing a jumpsuit and...was that a collar? The outfit looked similar to prison jumpsuits, but collars weren't used in any prison he'd ever seen.
After a few seconds of puzzling over her appearance, he awkwardly asked, "Ano...could I know who bumped into me at least?"
lmfao she likes to be independent
He didn't have any reaction to the collar - so Aoko decided he definitely wasn't from Deadman Wonderland. In fact, he probably didn't know about Deadman Wonderland at all, so while she was still very conscious about obviously being a prisoner, which was enough for immediate suspicious looks and rejection from society, and it was embarrassing, she wasn't worried or frightened by it. She was alright, here.

They'd sort of met after Kaitou Kid had disguised himself as Takagi. Not an altogether pleasant memory. Especially after the inspector had given him such a grilling to try and get him to remember specifics about Kid.
no subject
Naturally, he hadn't had much luck.
But Aoko's voice is loud and echoes across the hallways enough for him to pick up on her yelling. Shiro, Yoh, Azami-- he knows those people.
And he's pretty sure he knows this Aoko]
Oooooi! [he cups his hands over his mouth to amplify his own voice. He can't see her, but he can hear her, and hopefully she can hear him] I can hear you, Aoko! Keep talking!
[He'll follow her voice to get to her if he has to]
no subject
Kaito! That's you, right? Where are you?
no subject
Second floor! [and then, he pauses, trying to think of any landmarks he can give her to help her find him easier... but nothing comes to mind. The rooms in this mansion change locations far too quickly for him to be able to do that, and he's nowhere near the more permanently set areas (like the kitchen, or the dining room)]
Find a stairwell!
no subject
[But she keeps running around anyway, trying her best to find one - but it's harder, because she can't really follow his voice now, since she's not trying to go the same way as him yet. ... She's not exactly the best at finding her way around anywhere, either.]
no subject
[And there's the confirmation that she was probably looking for; this Kaito is the one she knows from home, and he's rounding another corner and cursing to himself as he sees no sign of a stairwell]
no subject
[... She realises a second later what that means - that yes, this is her Kaito, and suddenly she starts searching with much more determination. She runs around everywhere she hasn't been yet, and when she finally stumbles across the stairwell, she sprints up the stairs, calling out for Kaito.]
no subject
[Another corner, and he finally sees the top of the stairwell, leading down. His pace impossibly quickens as he grabs the railing and practically flings himself down them, two at a time. The last time he had heard of Aoko, she had been kidnapped and taken in to be turned into a Forgery, and the thought that she might be experimented on while latched helplessly to a stainless steel table in the middle of a white-washed laboratory while he was stuck here sitting on his butt made his blood boil.
If she's not okay physically, when he gets back to Deadman Wonderland, certain people are going to pay.]
no subject
She's more pale than she should be, herself, and she looks a little badly treated and underfed; there are marks on her arms from the constant injections, strap marks on her forearms, her wrists are rubbed a little raw from steel cuffs; she's not too bruised, but she's definitely not in good health. (Although, in terms of Deadman Wonderland, considering what she's been through, she really is.)
But that doesn't mean anything to her, and she stares at Kaito for a minute, shocked and unbelievably relieved.]
Kaito—it's really you, isn't it?
no subject
But she's talking to him. Asking him coherent questions, holding on to him like she hasn't seen him in years (it sure felt like years, on his end) and for Deadman Wonderland... she looks okay]
Ao-- [He doesn't even have the right mind to answer her question. After two months of worrying and trying to find a way back to rescue her, she's here, she's okay, and she's alive.
He pulls on her hands roughly and embraces her as tightly as he can]
[1/2]
It's a little embarrassing, standing here like this in public, in the middle of a staircase, but she lets Kaito hold her for a bit longer, until she's sure he's calmed down, and then she squirms out of the embrace and steps back; she looks him in the eye, hands on his shoulders.]
Thank God... I'm really relieved.
