After some time in the infirmary, Shinichi's recovered enough to be moved to his own room. The novelty of sleeping in a bed and the fact that he is genuinely exhausted has kept him to the room, resting and recovering for the last few days. He is still far from well -- but he has run out of books and orange juice, Ran-kun hasn't been by for an entire hour and he is able to stand up without feeling like he is going to be sick.
In these circumstances, there is really only one thing you can do.
There is a pale Shinichi, wrist bandaged, and wearing a pair of pyjama pants and a t-shirt lent to him by Ran-kun making his way slowly down the hall, sword casually knotted to his side with his somewhat stained obi. He has the expression of someone who knows he is in trouble but intends to get as far as he can regardless.

What??????
"Kudo-kun? What happened to you?"

Re: What??????
"I mean no harm, Kudo... though nice sword." He quietly said the last part, but loud enough for both to hear, trying to sound as loud sincere as possible and keep up the pokerface.

There was something wrong about the situation, even besides the dizziness. "Kudou, tantei -- you're very fond about giving me names that are not mine."
no subject
"But course! It makes everything more fun! But what shall I call you then? There is no name you have given me... Shinichi...

"No... i remember. I just wanted you to refresh my memories. And when did i really attack you, Shin-chan? I simply flew in. Now, all i want to know is... who caused you your injury."

He thought back trying to remember what he did the past few days. Not once did he attack nor see this Shinichi, yet the other blamed him.
"Not me you blame, Shin-chan. As much as I'd hate to say this, I've never met you till this day... Nor once have I attacked you. It was some other me. Some other Kaito." It must have been. But which one.

"Even if what you say is true, I do not know that I can trust you."

And that is precisely all the warning Shinichi is getting before being latched onto from behind by an overly excited 1412.

Shinichi grabbed the offending arm, using 1412's momentum against him in a throw that was as automatic as it was dizzying. Shinichi took a few unsteady steps back before collecting himself enough to draw his sword, backing against the wall. His legs shook and he was grateful for the wall's strength.
It was a few seconds before he had breath to speak. "I do not suggest you try that again."

"Aww~ chibi-chibi, why not?" He rises to his feet in a fluid movement, tilting his head to one side, disturbing grin still firmly fixed in place. "What if I wanted to ~cuddle you close~?"

He lets his mouth form a moue of sympathy. "Poor Chibi-chibi. Would it help if I kissed you better~?"
no subject
"It would not."

"My rival~" he purred, his tone suddenly possessive.

The use of Shin-chan and the appellation 'rival' threw him, however. Shinichi blinked, wondering whether his head was still dizzy.
"Ah?"
no subject
"My rival, stranger or not, aren't you? Mine, whether you dont' know it." He leant forwards eagerly. "Mine, mine mine."

"I'm nobody else, Shi-chan. Not at all like who you met before." He rolled his back smoothly against the wall, arching into a standing position, and settling the hat back on his head as he turned toward Shinichi again.
"Would you like to tell me who injured you?" he asked softly. So he could find them. And tear the stupid Kaito apart for touching anything that was his.

It was hard to hold the sword still, its tremor broadcasting just how much of a challenge it was. "You did. Or -- another you."

"Going to be very cold when I'm done with him... But has to wait..." 1412 trailed off, distracted by thought. "Very busy, moving around and finding things and..." An abrupt swing back to focusing on Shinichi, leaning eagerly forwards into his space.
"I found her!"

"Begin--" 1412 loses speaking to a fit of giggles, his gaze fixed on some imaginary scene as he laughs.
And laughs.

1412 crouches by Shinichi, still smiling broadly. "Really did hurt you, didn't he?" A pout, and an attempt at a sympathetic face.
"Poor Shi-chan."

Shinichi tried to concentrate on manners. "I am sure you have much to do."

"Should break the naughty hand which hurts us, yes?"

What was that about trouble?

"Ran-san," Shinichi greeted her. "It is a pleasure to see you, as always."
