[There are notes all around the Mansion today. Not very complicated notes. In fact, they're very simple.

'Kaito,

I have a surprise for you, so come to the lobby as soon as possible.

Love,
mom'

Of course, should any Kaito listen to this letter and enter the lobby, they'll find a surprise.

Namely in the form of a pitfall right in front of all the doors. One with aligators, one with dogs, one with snakes, and for the truly unlucky Kaito, one with fish.

And should they pass the pitfall, they'd have to deal with a poles shooting out of the ground.

And should they pass that, there will be a swinging blade pendulum of death.

And then there will be cake.

Chocolate cake.

Which is actually perfectly safe. That's his treat for making it through alive.

Of course others are allowed to be caught by the traps by mistake, of course. Aya will come help you since you're not Kaito. Aoko's won't be helped though, since she trained her too.]

[Oh, Aunty Aya. NOW this all made sense.]

I know pit-traps!

[Conan waves in greeting, before studying the pit in front of him. His gaze shifts to the poles and the pendulum and the cake and he raises an eyebrow. Kuroba didn't eat cake ...]

[Blink-blink--] Oh! You're that Kaito's Mum.

No. They're just insane.

And like pit-traps.

Yeah! And -- Shinichi-niichan too!

You didn't ask him?

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
It's dumb. There are civilians here too. Playing that kind of game's needlessly risky.

-- ah.

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I guess that makes sense.

There's chocolate cake in the dining room.

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
... huh.

[Conan gives the pit a second, more speculative glance. It's going to be harder given that he can't jump as far as usual, and those sticks will be a nuisance ... but is it worth the cake?]

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
[That settles it. Conan unhooks his jump-line from his belt, aims it at the balcony that Aya-obasan is sitting on, and uses it to swing across the pit. He gets halways through the sticks before he's forced to abandon the rope and drop roll to avoid being skewered. The roll takes him neatly under the pendulum, designed for someone considerably taller, and Conan cheerfully dusts himself off, and reaches up to get the cake.]

...

[ ... small problem.]

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
You should ... see ... what I ... have to do ... just ... to get out ... the door ... in ... the ... morning--

[Jumping. Still not quite tall enough.]

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Imminent cake! Conan waits, exuding expectation.]

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Aya-bachan!

[Yay cake!]

[identity profile] dynamic-brat.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's good cake!

K--Conan. My name's Conan.

That's right. My parents like mysteries a lot.
