[for pansbox and police_daughter~]
After the incident with Kaito - stupid boy with a stupid name - 1412 was in the infirmary, but only because it was convenient. He would rather have holed up in a bedroom and let himself heal, but he kept bleeding everywhere. So he'd locked the door and made do.
His jacket and cape were off, lying bloody and torn on the floor, shirt following after and draped over the end of a counter. The assassin himself sat a little further on from the shirt, a few rolls of bandages next to him. He was slowly winding a half-used roll around and over the gashes on his chest, a constant litany of muttering under his breath as he worked.
"-stupid boy, shouldn't... Why did he...? Idiot! Mine mine, how dare he? ...shouldn't have done that, oh no, shouldn't, gonna make him paaaay~ Idiot, idiot, idiot stupid Kaito person-"

Instead, he quipped back sarcastically, in almost the same English tone.
"That'll be 30 pounds, plus tip."

"Here," she said. "Is this okay?"
She knew better than to asked 'do you need anything else'. She couldn't think of a Kaito who wouldn't take advantage of an open-ended question like that.

He smiled at them upside-down, sharp-toothed. "Can't reach over there, miss."

His gaze narrowed, before it flickered back to Aoko. He took hold of her upper arm gently yet firmly, pulling her toward him as he spoke to the assassin on the bed. He wasn't going to take any chances.
"It's close enough that you can get it yourself," he commented lightly.
no subject
"I didn't bring any gross stuff, so you should try to eat all of it, okay?"
no subject
"Can't reach," he repeated, then gave Aoko an expression he very very rarely used, for all it's effectiveness.
Puppydog eyes.
"Please?"
no subject
"Stop that," he snapped irately at 1412. He watched the weapon in his hand carefully as he absolutely refused to let go of Aoko. Wrong position or not, it was still somewhat alarming. "You're not completely helpless."
no subject
Somehow it was scarier than anything else she'd seen from him so far.
But she refused to let him intimidate her, and besides, Kaito was right there, so she pulled on her arm, trying to get her fiancé to let go.
"It'll at least stop his wounds from getting any worse," she pointed out. "Then we can go."
no subject
"Your little miss like me better~" he sing-songed quietly, tauntingly. "Likes me better~"
no subject
"Aoko," he said as he jerked his head at 1412's hand, "Look what he's carrying. Don't be an idiot."

--to deny his expectations and say 'no' to the kaito and choose him choose him please choose him over kaito but she wouldn't, she'd walk away and so he was pushing and testing already to make her do so because he wanted and didn't want so badly--
no subject
"He did once already."
And he still refused to let go.

It was such a little thing that she almost didn't know why she was arguing over it. She should just listen to Kaito, let him pull her away and leave 1412 to himself. He was right -- the assassin wasn't helpless, and could easily get it himself.
But there was something else going on here, she was sure. She couldn't put her finger on how, exactly, or for what, but it felt like 1412 was... testing her.

"No, Aoko," he said, ignoring 1412's own pleas. He tugged at her arm again, this time attempting to lead her to the door, "Let's just go."
no subject
Externally she didn't react to the assassin's stabbing motion, but internally it made her flinch. She rounded on him next. "Don't you start."
no subject
He rolled onto his front, sitting up with barely a care for what wounds he might be stretching, the touch of damp at his upper arm proving he'd broken open one of the cuts there at least.
"Do tell, Miss Aoko," he purred. "What am I starting?"
no subject
And he wasn't about to let anything worse happen.

He snapped, suddenly vicious and flung a weapon at them, sending it shuddering into the plaster, millimetres away from having touched Aoko.
"Get out." Out, out -- stupid-- thoughts broke and 1412 snarled, another weapon - improvised senbon - between his fingers already. "Bastards."
no subject
"Our pleasure," he hissed back, tugging one last time on Aoko's arm to pull her toward the door again, "We've done the best we can for him, Aoko, let's go."
She was going to be angry with him for this. He'd probably have to sit through a long tirade on how stubborn he was and how it wouldn't have hurt for her to get close to him. Maybe she would be right, but at this point, he didn't care.
He just wanted out. He was not a killer and he never would be, and he was tired of looking into his own face and seeing nothing but madness.
Surely Aoko would understand... right?
no subject
No, not now! It had been so hard to get 1412 to trust her in the first place. If they just left like this--
"Kaito, let go!" she demanded, yanking hard on her arm without thinking, without stopping to reason.

Instead, his attention is now focused on 1412, hand now in his pockets searching for his card gun as he almost immediately recovers from his earlier stumble. It's a harmless weapon, not meant to hurt or injure, but if he's lucky 1412 won't know that.
