[Event] Whatever you do, don't high-five

Your hands look normal, feel normal, and even smell normal. There's nothing out of the ordinary... Except when you touch something (or someone) else~

You'll start leaving handprints, fingerprints, streaks of colour along the walls, furniture, and along other people's skin. There's a different colour for every different person, and who knows what happens when you high-five?

"Probably..." Ran leaned against the painted wall, running a hand through his hair (and not even thinking that the mysterious paint might come off in it -- luckily, it didn't). "What's he like?"

"Like Hakuba. Only more so." Shinichi frowned, wondering how to properly explain him. "Usually he's pretty contained, but this one-- it's even more marked. And I still have the feeling that he's told me more than he might anyone casually. So if he finds out the Conan in his world might be a me -- he has to know. But we need his help."

"Right. I'll keep an eye out for him."

This thing with 1412 seemed to be getting more and more complicated -- and more and more dangerous. Ran didn't really like it at all, but it wasn't like they had a choice.

"Do you think anything we do to him here would carry over when he went home?"

Shinichi traced the pattern of the wallpaper idly with one finger, leaving paint traces behind him. "Hard to tell. We don't know enough about what happens when someone leaves."

"Do you know anyone who has?" Ran asked, looking in the direction of the paint doodling. He was still kind of unsettled by how long Hattori-san had been stuck here.

"One Kaito." Shinichi sounded faintly disgruntled at that. "One Conan-me." Pause. "Possibly the Ran from the internet community."

That was more people than Ran had been expecting, at least. "What happens to them when they go home?"

"The Conan-me doesn't go home. He's trapped someplace different. Don't know about Ran, but Kaito says that he just goes home and no time has passed." Pause. "He doesn't remember this place though."

((ooc: Or at least I think that's what pans_box said. My memory is just that bad.))

"He doesn't remember it at all?" Shoot. How was he supposed to convince his Shinichi that they needed to let Hattori-san in on things? "And what do you mean, someplace different?"

((Yup! ...I think Ran said it too, but I honestly don't remember now.))

"Come to think of it, Conan-me warned me that he was likely to forget as soon as he got back to that place -- and I mean some place different. He was pulled from his world to it, and so he comes here from that place." Shinichi grimaced, knowing what Ran was thinking. He scrubbed a palm over the scribbles he'd drawn, drowning them in a wide smudge of colour.

"Weird." Ran had turned to idly doodling stick figures on the wall, combating each other with various karate techniques. "But... that's only three people, right? That doesn't mean that everyone will forget."

Even as he said it, though, he knew the odds weren't very high.

"Mature-me said that he thought seeing me here would be good for my Ran, even if she didn't remember," Shinichi said slowly, one handprint forming where his hand had come to a halt. "He said even if you didn't remember, the feeling of being able to say goodbye, the finality -- that stays with you even if the memories don't."

Ran glanced at the forming handprint.

"What about you?"

Shinichi seemed really concerned about what would happen to his Ran, but Ran hadn't heard him say a word about what might happen if Shinichi forgot.

Shinichi had to blink at that. "I'm a ghost," he explained as thought it were obvious. "All I am are thoughts and memories. No one can mess with that."

"This place brought us here in the first place," Ran pointed out, what he thought logically.

Ran was using logic. Shinichi hated that.

"Didn't change me when it brought me here, did it?" he said loftily.

"It didn't change any of us," his friend retorted.

"There is that," Shinichi concedes. "But I'm not ruling it out until it happens."

"It better not," Ran grumbled, scuffing a kick at the wall. "Why would it bring us here in the first place if we're only going to forget about it, anyway?"

"That," Shinichi said thoughtfully. "Is a very good question."

His friend tried to think about that for a moment. "...You said that Conan doesn't go straight home, right?" Ran asked. "Does that mean he goes to a different world instead? Maybe it's what's doing it."

"It could be," Shinichi said thoughtfully, finishing in disgust. "There's just too many variables!"

"What about the other two?" Ran queried further, not willing to drop the subject just yet. "Do they go to other worlds?"

"No," Shinichi concedes. "But Ran was exposed to the reality of other worlds before coming here."

"Really?" That was interesting. "What about Kuroba-san?"
