Locked to Deaduction

It took a bit of searching, but Conan managed to find it. He knew his alternate had been looking for some sort of study or perhaps library to 'haunt.' After that, it was just finding which study was most likely the sort for him to haunt.

The one with the little shrine was pretty much a dead give away.

Since their last encounter, he'd been worried about his other's fate. So here he was, waiting. His other would return eventually.

If he was still around.

He just had to determine when it was too long and really starting to fear the worse.

Shinichi hesitates. "... yes."

Well, that was a bad sign.

"What's there?"

"............ Haibara?"

"....she came then?"

Shinichi shrugs, shifting indistinct, clearly reluctant to talk about this. "Hasn't said anything about stationary," he says. "So I think we can rule the basement out."

"Would she say it if it was there?"

"Maybe some place with a lot of desks?" Shinichi suggested. "Notebooks, desks -- winning combination."

"You checked through the library, right?" Conan asked.

"Not recently," Shinichi admitted. "And not for notebooks."

"We might want to check."

"I'm not sure I'm up for excurcions just now," Shinichi says ruefully, looking to his memorial tablet. "But let me know what you find."

"Still worn out? I can take a look," Conan said.

Shinichi's smile was grateful, the most visible part of him. "Thank you," he said, his edges blending with the shadows. "I'd like that."

"If I find one, I'll leave it by your shrine," Conan said.

"And if you don't, tell me what you do find." The ghost gives up the battle, slipping indistinct with a sound almost like a sigh. "We never did reach the attic, did we?"

"Maybe we should try to find an elevator. We might have more luck," Conan said, smirking a bit. "You rest, okay? We can talk later."

Shinichi laughed. "Couldn't have come up with a better plan myself," he said and if he sounded tired, he also sounded happier. "I'll be here."
