Tied to dynamic's thread with Ayumi. :D

Why is there a group of strange brightly coloured animals standing in front of a section of the second floor?

Scratch that, why is there ANYTHING standing in front of a section of the second floor? Which happens to be roped off with police tape.

Also why is there no Ayumi to keep a handle on these things if someone decides to investigate them..?

((OOC - Cards outside include fox (pictured above) along with pheasant, lemur, and king cobra. :D Ayumi might appear depending on what you do though. -u-))

These are all good questions. Very good questions -- and one's that this Conan, geiger counter in hand, would like to have answered.

"Um -- hello?"

Good thing it's what they're guarding and not what they are that's radioactive then.

The fox is the first to respond, and after a look toward the other three things immediately moves to investigate. "..."

"Kiiiiiin..?"

... oh great.

Conan points to himself then at the hall beyond the police tape. "I need to get in there."

King Cobra heard that.

He is not pleased! "SSSSSSIISSSSSSSSS!!!" That is a big NO.

Fox also shakes his head, crossing his strange spring-arms.

"Look, it's pretty important. I appreciate you guys mean well -- is there someone in charge of you?"

They all turn to each other, and then look over at the lemur.

Lemur shrugs.

And then gives out the loudest wail ever. "MrrrrRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!"

"AAAAH!!!" A wild Ayumi has appeared. From the opposite direction. "W-Wattlemur..!! Stop..!!"

Lemur stops. Thank god.

Errrr... "Oh- Conan-kun?"

Conan lowers his hands from his ears cautiously as the noise seems to have stopped -- ah, someone he can talk to!

"Ayumi-neechan! Are these ... friends of yours?"

"Ah-" Smile! "Sort of. These are four of my duel monster cards- technically they aren't real..." She looks over at them, blinking. "Though I think that the mansion did something to them, because they act a lot more 'real' here..."

She shakes her head, looking back to Conan. "Oh- If you're trying to get past the barrier though, the other Conan-kun wants me to warn people off from it- apparently there's a lot of radioactive and molecularly unstable things behind it..?" Hold on while she thinks over what she just said. "I'm pretty sure that's what he said at least..."

"These are cards?" Conan eyed the creatures sceptically, but decided he could grill Ayumi later -- he had things to do.

Speaking of, he held up the geiger counter. "Way ahead of you. I need to get in so I can tell how bad things are."

"Ah- he sent you then? Alright..." One short whistle, and the monsters step aside. "He knows..! You can let him pass!"

"Ah -- thank you." Conan bows quickly before slipping past the barrier. He's not long taking his readings and noting the results down in his notebook but the results seem to give him pause and it's not long before he's jogging back over to join them.

"Ayumi-neechan? I'm going to try something -- so I want you to keep your friends back, okay?"

"Ah- Of course..!" A quick nod to the holograms in question gets them to do just that, though they're obviously a little unsure about it. "What are you trying?"

"I'm only getting a high radiation reading from one of the doors -- the rest read only a little above normal, the same as a person might read after an x-ray, and they're fading quickly. I think that they're stable -- except for that one with the high reading. To test my theory, I'm going to see what effect impacting the doors has."

Kneeling to turn his power-enhancing shoe on, Conan checks to see that Ayumi has her friends well out of the way. "All good?"

The response is a nod, and a thumbs up. "Hai!"

"All right then ..."

Conan sizes up the distance between them and the first shrunken door. Popping a soccer ball from his belt, he kicks it expertly, the ball slamming into the door -- and nothing happening.

"Huh. I guess they really have stabilised."

"Nn. So everything is safe then now?"

"Not quite -- that was a door with a normal reading. Now for the one with the abnormal reading."

Wash, rinse, repeat -- but this time when the soccer ball smacks into the door there is a definite difference, aka. one explosion.

"Hih-!" Excuse her while she attempts to keep her heart from jumping out of her throat now..! "That's definitely abnormal...!! ...What was he trying to make...?" He being the... Other Conan-kun of course.

Man, these kids need nicknames or something...

"Now everything is safe," Conan finished. "I'll just confirm that the radiation levels have returned to normal -- mm? A shrink gun, of course."

"Well it definitely worked..."

The holograms are slowly inching their way over from behind Ayumi, you might want to get a handle on that...

Conan climbs back over the police tape, doing his check of the doors -- apart from the fact that there is now a second hole in the wall, everything is normal.

"All clear!"

"Hn. Does this mean the chair in Conan-kun's room is safe as well now?"

... the chair?

"Yea- he was roping it off..."

"We'd better check it out! Lead the way!"
