[There's a Conan standing in an infirmary, staring up in annoyance at a glass-fronted cabinet full of gauze strips, and too short to reach them.
His left hand is pressed carefully against his right arm near the shoulder, blood leaking through his fingers, and his breathing is strained and shallow.
He might need some help.]

what a horrid thing to do
Ran-neeechan isn't going to leave, right?

[No way is she leaving him alone after what happened to him]

I'm sorry.
I didn't think he would hurt me.

["Didn't think he would hurt me"... was it someone he knew? That was stupid, of course it probably was -- almost everyone here was someone they knew, if not directly.
She finally finds his door and pauses a moment, trying to figure out how to open it without shifting Conan too much. Eventually she settles for crouching slightly, so that she can reach the knob with one of her hands without having to move him at all. It's awkward, but the door clicks open, and she bumps it open the rest of the way with her hip]

[There's nothing outstandingly unusual about the room, except for how unlived in it looks. The bed is made, somewhat messily, and the closet door is open, revealing a few Conan-sized outfits. Other than those few things, however, there's nothing personalized about the room.

[Ran doesn't take much notice of it, instead falling quiet at Conan's words as she takes him over to the bed. She very carefully and very slowly lays him down, giving him plenty of chance to protest if he needs to.
He's right. She can't promise that, not if she doesn't know who his attacker is, not unless she sticks by Conan's side 24-7 -- and she already knows from experience that that's pretty much impossible]
I can if you tell me who he is.

I.... I didn't know. I'm sorry. I thought he wasn't going to hurt me.
[Conan was the sort of kid who blamed himself for all the people who died around him, but who didn't let anyone see that he was affected by their deaths. His Ran was so worried about him.]

It isn't your fault, Conan-kun. [gently runs her hand over his hair] It's hard to tell with everyone here looking like people we know.

...holy crap I had a tag here.
You couldn't have known! I probably wouldn't have either...
[Provided it was someone she knew -- but if Conan knew them, she probably did too. Which narrowed the list down to who?]

[hesitates, and sighs]
Do you need anything else?

And then she can stop them.]
