(no subject)
[If you're of a mind to be around a particular area - about where a certain deceased detective was a while ago, in fact - you might just notice a white-clad thief leaning against a wall]
[It's not a casual slump, nor an elegant one - it's the slump of the exhausted, and he certainly looks it - his hat pulled down low, some papers held in one hand, and his eyes half-lidded, seeing nothing in particular]
[a little while after this] [all Shinichi be warned] [in fact, -everyone- be warned]

[if you don't dodge, he'll slam you against the wall, and growl, not caring about pain or poker face, or anythign except getting you to react]
no subject
His own direct involvement isn't usually part of his games, he's prefers watching others write and twist and realize they can't escape. Solving murders he inspired. Making people work for him.
This is fun though, making KID lose Poker Face.
The only reaction he gives is a sharp, predatory smile, and a slight change in his breathing. Now this is a fun game. He is involved in this game.]

[grabs for your wrist with his free hand and twists enough to cause pain, but not -quite- enough to make anything snap. yet]
Having fun?
no subject
It's always fun, watching insanity.
[How will the thief react to that accusation? Shinichi wants to see this. Wants to watch. Wants to meet the person that did this to Kuroba Kaito.]
no subject
[how dare he - don't you dare - i'm not - did you hear what he said]
[low growl] I'm not mad. Insanity is for fools.
[twisting further on your wrist without really noticing it, glaring at you, wanting to make you understand that he isn't-]
I'm not mad.
no subject
Gods this was beautiful.
The pain barely registered, even though he felt ribs crack, felt his wrist twisting towards the breaking point.
Broken, so broken.
Tone light, a mocking childish sing-song.]
Mad, foolish, stupid Kaito. Doesn't even realize he's insane. Poor child.
no subject
NOT MAD!
[chibi-chibi learnt not to say that, learnt not to push him, never to say that if they wanted to remain rivals, wanted to play one last game together - they'd made a pact after all - but here was this one PUSHING and not STOPPING-]
[shaking a little and glaring at where he threw you, purely by chance not into a wall]
no subject
So he rises shakily to his feet, hands in his pockets, smirk on his face.
My win.]
Having fun yet?
no subject
[but he can't, can he? no contract to hold against you - he can't kill you without a contract -]
I will be.
[stalking towards you again, like some kind of avenging wraith]
no subject
I suppose you must have fun, being who you are now.
More fun than the Kaito I knew back home. He was happy, had a family, had a girl he loved. But no games like yours.
no subject
Girl? A girl he loved?
[shakes his head, fingertips pressing to the side of his forehead, muttering to himself]
Kaito never existed, never had a father, never killed his mother because she wouldn't listen--
[stops suddenly, looking at you with a sharp glare]
Stop calling me Kaito.

He wore a suit like you're wearing now, but people loved him, cheered for him. He stole gemstones while the crowds looked on and applauded under the moonlight. No one cared that he was a criminal, no one cared that there were warrents for his arrest in nations all over the globe. He was a magician and the people loved him. International Criminal 1412 was what INTERPOL called him.
[Still light, still mocking. Just enough truth to be true. He hated KID. A criminal and the crowds loved him.]
no subject
I know better than to trust you - though you are telling me some truth, aren't you?
[small, soft smile]
1412~ Such a pretty set of numbers.
[laughs again] But still just words~
no subject
What was a lie there, 1412? What kind of detective would I be if I lied about a criminal?
The crowds loved him. Loved the criminal more than the detectives out to catch him. That was wrong of them, but they were just people, and crowds of people are stupid.
I wouldn't have killed him if they hadn't loved him so much. He was smart enough to make things fun for me.
[His tone shifts there, a flicker of anger.
KID made things fun, made cases hard, but he took the spotlight off of the detectives who chased him.]
no subject
So it was a jealous chibi-chan who wanted him dead, was it?
[steps a little closer, smiling]
Jealous little chibi-chan, all alone in the spotlight~
no subject
A smirk, more forced than before, and the adreneline rush was wearing off, and he was in pain.]
Yes, all alone in the spotlight. I like it like that. More cases to solve that way, more criminals to catch.
no subject
Not even a beloved to share it with...
[smiles, steps forwards again,]
Because she's moving on now, isn't she? Leaving you behind for another love.... While you lag behind in that tiny little body, chibi-chan
[his smile is just as sympathetic, tone sugary sweet, but he loves that show of emotion on your face, your hurt, welling up from some hidden place. If you won't react to the physical, there are other ways of playing games]
no subject
Is that what's happening to your chibi? Is he being left behind? Poor chibi-chan forgot to make sure she'd stay waiting for him.
[That was a mistake, KID's mistake, assuming things would work the same in different worlds.
It's KID's turn to play detective, to try and break him. The thief is going to fail.]
no subject
But my chibi-chibi doesn't care about the rusted heart of gold, the beloved that-never-was.
[smirks] Others do. You care... Ghostie cared an ~awful~ lot.
Poor beloved, always left behind. Chibi-chan can be so cruel, can't he?
no subject
[Ran... He didn't love her. Didn't love anyone. But she was in love with him, belonged to him.]
no subject
Call me that again and I'll take your eyes.
[an easy promise, with a charming smile, forgetting about the question for now]
[it's so easy to forget things when something sparks in the only sense you have left, demanding attention from the rest of your twisted mind]
no subject
[Mocking repitition of the thief's own words, but he realizes the danger from the knife, his arm burns and reminds him that the knife is sharp and can hurt him.]
And you said yourself, Kaito never existed, never had a father, never killed his mother because she wouldn't listen---
Where's the harm in calling you by the name of someone who never existed?
no subject
Considered that 1412 doesn't like it, maybe, hm?
[catches the knife, and spreads his arms]
I am who I am who I am - not your dead little Kaito.
no subject
[He's in pain, and the fading activity in the room is leaving him exhausted. This stupid little child-body wasn't made to stay this alert, this tense. But he doesn't let it show, just smirks a bit, watching the knife.]
no subject
[chuckles, and knows he won't need it because of his glorious rival - he'll be there one day, not chibi-chibi any more, taller and looking like him, his own face reflected]
[and then they'll play one last glorious time]
