[You can smell smoke.

This is not usually a good development, so it's natural that no matter where you are in the mansion, you'd stop what you're doing and look around. Maybe glance towards the open window and catch sight of a plume of grey smoke in the distance. Glancing out of the window, you can see that there is a small -- shed? shack? At this distance it's hard to tell -- building erected on the lawn.

In front of it a small campfire is burning brightly. There's no sign of anyone tending it. Do you invest--

There's a kitchen with supplies, if you'd prefer.

Is it like this place?

To a degree. There are ingredients as well as tools.

[Conan hesitated. So far he didn't exactly feel comfortable with the mansion but surely tools were all right. Tools were for using after all, right?]

Cooking pots?

Of course.

[Such internal conflict going on here. Conan hesitates for the longest time, but eventually nods. He's also looking for your hand to hold it again.]

The kitchen is usually located next door to the dining room. Both of them have a tendency to stay on the first floor, unless you're trying particularly hard to find them elsewhere.

The rooms shift?

[Pause.]

Ne -- are they not in storage?

Storage?

And they're taken out of storage when they're needed.

I've never heard of rooms being in storage before.

It's only Inside.

...I'm afraid I don't follow. Where else would rooms be, if not inside?

[pushes the door open onto the kitchen]

Ah, here we are.

We build houses Outside too, of course. You saw mine before! But they're very different to Inside.

[Even as Conan replies, he is busy roaming the kitchen, sizing up everything on offer.]

Then what is... Inside... like?

[Weirdly, he doesn't seem to want to let go of any hands.]

It's always busy and crowded and it smells like oil and chemicals.

[then she'll just lead him over to the cupboards with the pots and pans and such]

[Oh this is interesting. Conan shifts his hold to Ran's wrist so he can rummage more thoroughly in the cupboard.]

There's lots more stuff, but I don't know the words for it all. Just that it's there.

[Conan brought out a pan, letting go of Ran's hand so he could turn it over to look at it.]

Is it really all right to borrow?

We might find the words for them later in the library, if you'd like.

Yes, and we can keep them as long as we like. It seems the Mansion simply makes more.

Someone else makes more and the Mansion produces it out of storage.

[Conan corrects Ran absently. He's more preoccupied with her next statement.]

What's a library?

If someone else is making the things it provides, we've certainly never seen them.

[Conan cradles his chosen pot. He is pretty sure that isn't how it works, but logically they wouldn't want the factories near the residences.]

What is it?

It's a large room or building dedicated to the collection of books and other reading materials.
