This is not usually a good development, so it's natural that no matter where you are in the mansion, you'd stop what you're doing and look around. Maybe glance towards the open window and catch sight of a plume of grey smoke in the distance. Glancing out of the window, you can see that there is a small -- shed? shack? At this distance it's hard to tell -- building erected on the lawn.

In front of it a small campfire is burning brightly. There's no sign of anyone tending it. Do you invest--

They come again for the teenagers. Those that are healthy and can be taught. If they don't want you, you can stay Outside. And when you get too old to work Inside, you get sent Outside, and if you cause trouble, you're sent Outside.

I don't know about human, but you looked like a man. All dressed in White and your hair so pale that you kind of look like part of the walls at first.

As for meta-human... [Hnnn...] Like I said- human, but with... You could call it bonuses? Depending on the 'bonus', it's more of a hindrance to be honest... For example, if I were able to put my hand in this fire, and take it out without being burned. That would be something that a meta-human might be able to do.

Or perhaps they can breathe underwater. Or even fly. [Looking at you, home-world Conan] They're human... But they have powers.

And like I said, sometimes the powers aren't good things. Maybe they get cold easily. Or their bones are easier to break...

Or maybe, they can't come in contact with sunlight.

A bed-time story? I know about those.

Humans with bonuses ... I don't know. I don't think living Inside is that much of a bonus ... but they do get nice stuff. They don't work to find food, and they live in nice places. Maybe it's like you said, they're disadvantages.

How come you know about meta-humans but not Controllers?

As for the question, it's because meta-humans aren't necessarily controllers. Think of it like this. You're human right? But that doesn't make all humans you. Not all meta-humans are the same. So, if the controllers are meta-human, that doesn't mean they represent all of them.

As it is, that version of them doesn't exist in my world.

[Conan frowns.] I think I see. Ayumi's different from Genta, and Mitsuhiko's different from Kaa-chan, who is different from Sonoko-neechan.

And you're a Gin but you're different and called Koji ...

Pretty sure there's a forest somewhere. If there isn't, it's not too hard to make one show up. There's not much of a limit to what you can ask to find behind a door.

[Conan nods. That makes sense. He doesn't see the difference between Gin's employers and the Controllers, really.]

We can't get home? [Conan looks up from gutting his rabbit with some alarm.] But--

[At any rate, despite the mildly unnerving look you might catch toward the rabbit (WAIT UNTIL IT IS COOKED-), he nods.] I mean exactly what it sounds like. You think about what you want to see behind the door in terms of scenery, furniture or whatever... And it'll show up.

...Doesn't work for getting people though, so don't try that.

[Conan nods slowly. An advanced synthesizer? Or -- a very well-made storage system? He can figure it out later. Either way, now skinned, beheaded and with its guts removed, the rabbit meat is getting cut into small pieces.]

That or they aren't- not everyone from the home worlds so to speak are here after all; so trying to make them show up doesn't work.
