*The first thing about this new arrival is that he's older. Possibly by a good ten years.

He is familiar with being pulled out of one space and plopped into another, so it was hardly surprising to him that he's found himself in another manor.

But the lack of surprise didn't mean he couldn't be cautious. Or angry. He'd just recovered enough from his injuries to be moving around without getting lightheaded, and here he was again away from home and without Kazuha.

He's dressed in light clothes that are easy to move in. A tank top and cargo pants. The tank top is thin enough to show the gauze taped to his chest, as well as numerous scars across his arms and shoulders. There is another thick bandage around his right bicep. Slung around his waist, almost carelessly, is a gun holster, but he's holding the gun in his left hand, keeping it low in order to keep it from being noticed immediately.

He's got a wary look about him, as if he's been through this sort of situation before, and he glances around the parlor he's found himself in before moving to the door and creaking it open. Front hall? Or perhaps another living room. He cases it quickly, checking for life, before moving it.

Heiji does this with every room he passes, stepping swiftly, but quietly down the halls, and slowly tries to piece together where he is.*

He'll not ask any more about that, and instead nod and gesture off behind him. "Yea- It should be around this way I think." Depending on if the mansion suddenly decides to move EVERYTHING for no real reason. "The dining room would probably be better though."

"I'll follow ya. I'd rather not get lost at this point."

Didn't want to fall over somewhere strange.

"Right. Well, if I'm right it should be a short ways down this hall..."

"Haven't been 'ere long enough to know for sure?"

He resumes glancing into open doorways as they walk.

"Yes and no," he admits with a shrug. "I've been here long enough to get a basic idea, but the problem is that you can never be sure if the building will have the same layout all the time."

"...great." Well, there went any hope he had of keeping a coherent map in his head.

Ohhhh... It's not so bad.

"Generally, having a solid idea of where you want to go seems to be enough at least," he mentions when he catches Hattori's expression. In fact, as they turn the hall...

Well look at that. The cafeteria-like room, tables all decked out with food and ready for someone to sit and dig in. "...See?"

Heiji stops and stares for a moment, updating his internal map from 'manor' to 'mansion'. This was definitely a lot bigger than the other place he'd been if it could hold a cafeteria-sized dining room.

"I could get used t'this, if I had to."

He wanders to the closest chair and sits with a breath of relief, holding his right arm for a second.

"Yep- it's pretty handy, once you catch on." So he says as he grabs a drink from the table.

And... "Mm? What happened to your arm?"

He turns to watch him, clearly debating how much to tell him. On the one hand, it's Kudo. If there was anyone that could know...but on the other hand, this one didn't belong on his world.

"I got into a fight. Lucky I got away this easy."

"A fight?" He frowns, nodding. "Well, as long as they didn't follow here..."

"They shouldn't have." The idea that they could have come here makes him tense, and he resists the urge to case the entire room for exits. "We got far away from it. They couldn't've followed me."

Um.

"It?"

"Sorry. Th' fight. It wasn't some strange creature. Promise. Just people."

"Ah." He nods. "I guess I'm used to having the option in mine..." Actually, in someways, it's better when the one on the other end IS some kind of monster- at least then the attacking doesn't seem quite as unjustified...

"If it was people from that other place though, I guess the possibility of them following doesn't exist at all, eh?"

"Who knows?"

He pauses, then reaches for something to drink as well.

"Ya fight monsters?"

"I had the 'fortune' of visiting 'Hell' for a while..." Annnnd leaving it at that. "...Otherwise, the living world has a lot more supernatural beings in it than should be possible."

"Th' sheer fact that yer acceptin' their existence speak volumes. What do ya do?"

"Live."

Beat.

"When one of your classmates turns out to be a chinese vampire, it's hard to ignore."

"...right. Suddenly my life doesn't seem so complicated or far fetched. 'Livin' is th' reason I carry."

He snorts. "I'd be surprised if anyone's life could get more complex myself..."

"Though I probably shouldn't say that- with my luck, it will now, hahaha..."

He's starting to pick at food. His stomach is a bit queasy from having been up too long, but light foods aren't too terrible.

"Yeah, ya got terrible luck-" He almost calls him by name, but instinct stops him again. He tries to play it off that his sentence had ended by taking a bite, but he can't help the slight awkwardness.

He caught that.

"If the Hattori in my world still has difficulties despite long accepting the fact that I can't 'go back', then I don't think you should worry about slipping. Besides," he adds dryly, "It seems to be the secret everyone here knows."

He frowns and looks away.

"Yeah, I just learned a long time ago not t' use names in public. It's a habit as hard t'break as callin' ya by yer real name."

"N?" What... "No names at all..?"

But why would... "...Hattori... Just what's going on in 'your' world..?"
